Ted brought his sons, Ben, Jonathan & Sam out for an incredible day of fishing today. We began in a big west wind that had me running to our starting spot at about 25mph. Fortunately we were able to fish for several hours before the winds switched direction and went north. During this time, they managed to land many pike and walleye before another move was required.

Our second location had me running slowly once again in probably 3 to 4 footers . I managed to keep everyone dry and we changed up presentations to continue with an even better afternoon filled with walleye and a few incidental catches. The bonus for the day had to be the giant drum that battled like a champ. I actually thought that it might be a musky at first with all the heavy lunges.

To say today was interesting would have been an understatement! Mother Nature was up to her old tricks once again with the weather and winds. Somehow I managed to not only salvage the day but fill the boat with fish too. Great day all around! Oh yeah and they’re having fish for dinner!

Christiane & I were out yesterday checking the repair installations I had done. Along with verifying that my job was working correctly, we decided to wet a line for a few hours and checked out some new areas to fish for tomorrow with my clients. She may not have caught a pile of fish but we did manage to bring a couple of high end keepers home and release some quality overs. Great morning to be on the water!

Peter and his son Alex were joined by their friends Olivier and his son ZaC for another great morning of fishing. They reeled in all kinds of pike & walleye and before we knew it, time was done. Not before filling the livewell with a great limit and some! They would be having fish for dinner!

A Planer Board Day

Fouad & his family joined me today for another pike & walleye troll. The conditions were perfect for the full boat as there were 4 of them. They managed to get a trolling 101 course with a few advanced techniques added in. In the end, the planer boards accounted for the majority of walleye as it was an absolute mirror out there. When the little wind we started with disappeared, the bite took a turn for the worse. I was forced to run the lines further from the boat with the aid of the boards. A decent amount of fish were taken with this technique and they managed to take 6 fish home for their dinner tonight. Ya can’t beat fresh fish for dinner!

Neil & his son Ben joined me today for another great fishing day. Despite the slow start this morning, we were able to adjust to the cold water temps and rally in the end. A combination of casting & trolling accounted for the fish with the numbers pretty equal. I believe that in the end, there were more walleye landed than pike with several overs being released. Neil even managed to take a good high end limit home with him for his family’s dinner tonight. Great fishing with even better days ahead!

Sam & his brother Chris struggled today but despite the extremely cold water temps, we rallied in the afternoon. Plenty of pike and some really nice walleye were boated. The conditions were bizarre with several different wind directions some rain & the flat calm dog pecker knats also joined us too!

The trolling bite never really got going with the 51 degree water temps, but we did however get into a good casting bite with slower moving baits. Both Sam & Chris learned a new technique and brought several fish to the net in the afternoon.

Despite all the different changes throughout the day, it all worked out in the end. Hopefully the next few days will continue to warm and the troll will once again produce!
