Happy Father’s Day

After a series of cancellations due to wind & weather, it was finally nice to get back out with clients today! Mark spent father’s day with his two beautiful daughters, helping them catch all kinds of fish. Olivia & Elena were all giddy reeling in most of the fish but Mark did get to land some. In fact, he even managed to help Olivia bring their first ever musky to the boat!

We made a quick pit stop back at the dock around noon and his wife, Lina joined us, completing his father’s day perfectly. Many more fish were landed by them before we called it a day!

Although my father is no longer with me, it was definitely nice to give another father a great day with his family. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there, whether they’re still with us or not! Mine may be gone, but he’ll never be forgotten!

A Big Eye Day

June 8th 2019

Luc & his son Alexi had the second nice day of the year today. They not only had the weather but the fish as well. Walleye were big and plentiful! Along with the eyes there were many northerns and a few more incidental smallies. It didn’t matter where we went, they caught em up good!

I think everyone had the same idea today as the lake was packed with all kinds of boats. From fishermen to cruisers and even several jet skiers too! It’s not a wonder with the weather we have been seeing the last few weeks! Now if they could only drop the level a bit to allow the parking lot not to be under water. We really need that second dock to be able to accommodate the people that launch once or twice a season!

Although water temps still remain around 58 degrees, the warm weather and sunshine should increase it some this week. The unseasonably cold water has made the fishing challenging, to say the least! Luc & his son Alexi didn’t seem to think so though as they had the best day fishing they had ever experienced. They were happy after the first three fish!

Finally Nice Weather

June 7th 2019 (afternoon)

Jacob was with me this afternoon for the second half of the day. He had booked last minute and was glad I had an opening!

Pike, walleye and a few accidental smallies were landed in just a few short hours of fishing. With today being the nicest so far this season, I am now hoping that the water warms up enough for them to become more active. Although we struggled all day, everyone was rewarded for their efforts!

Flat calm conditions till about 2:30 finally gave way to a big west wind that for some reason just shut the fish down. We barely caught anything when the waves kicked in! Good job the rest of the day provided action and some excellent walleye catches by all. Warmer weather still ahead!

Only big fish

June 7th 2019

Leslie & Leslie senior joined me this morning for a tough yet productive 4 hours of fishing. The fish definitely weren’t on fire as I had to work for each & every hit we had! With the water temps barely 56 degrees in most areas, it made for tough fishing.

Despite having to struggle for most of the morning, they did manage to land some really quality walleye & northerns. In fact they ended the morning with a triple header.

In the end there were plenty of quality fish landed and some of them went home with them for a great dinner!

Loads of Eyes

June 6th 2019

Cory & Mike joined me on the water today, hoping for some walleye. They definitely got what they requested! We began with a north wind and terrible bites and found most of the fish, just on. Reels weren’t firing much, just riders on the lures. Plenty of them were keepers as well as many more unders.

Some pike and a few incidental smallmouth also managed to find their way into the boat, only to be quickly released.

I had to fish many places today to get the fish but in the end it was all worth it. All but the giant hatch of caddis flies! Also known as shad flies! They were just relentless and we were all happy to finally be rid of them, when we were done!
